What Should I Expect at ASC?

After School Central (ASC) offers enriching experiences that help your student thrive. All of what we do is designed to nurture their potential and prepare them to become future leaders, providing a safe and supportive environment for young people to grow.

How Do I Sign Up?

Registration is required for After-School Central. You can register using the button below. Transportation after school is provided by the ASC-Whitko van. Students may be picked up using the rear entrance by 5:40 PM or may use the Whitko shuttle bus (view the schedule).

  • 3:10-3:30: Free Time/Healthy Snack
  • 3:30-3:45: Announcements/Group Game
  • 3:45-4:15: Homework Time
  • 4:15-4:45: Option Time (At South Whitley Public Library once a month)
  • 4:45-5:30: Free Time
  • 3:10-3:30: Free Time/Healthy Snack
  • 3:30-3:45: Announcements/Group Game
  • 3:45-4:15: Homework Time
  • 4:15-4:45: Option Time (Purdue Extension)
  • 4:45-5:30: Free Time
  • 3:10-3:30: Free Time/Healthy Snack
  • 3:30-3:45: Announcements/Group Game
  • 3:45-4:15: Homework Time
  • 4:15-4:45: Option Time (Cooking)

Our programs are 100% FREE to local youth! We believe in eliminating all barriers to attendance, including cost!

Shawna Balsiger
Shawna BalsigerDirector of Programs and Whitko Partnerships
Shawna Balsiger is The Center’s Director of Programs and Whitko Partnerships. She graduated from Huntington University in 2018 with degrees in Missions and Youth Ministry and joined The Center later that year. Shawna loves interacting with students at After School Central and hearing their laughter, as she believes in the transformative power of the teenage years. In her free time, Shawna enjoys country walks with her husband, Nick, and their dog, Frannie.
Isaiah Humiston
Isaiah HumistonWhitko Program Director
Isaiah Humiston is The Center’s Whitko Program Director. He graduated from Grace College with a degree in Counseling and a minor in Business, and joined The Center to pursue his passion for serving and loving students. Isaiah appreciates the supportive, welcoming environment The Center creates—for both students and staff—and is especially excited to grow the Ground Zero program while connecting with new students and families. Outside of work, Isaiah enjoys disc golfing and spending time outdoors.
